RULES

 

1. – When entering BEF designated classes, all horses and ponies must be registered with, and competitors must be members of, the BEF prior to the close of entries.

 

2. – Correct money for each class must accompany entry form.

 

3. - The organizing committee reserves the right to change, cancel or combine classes or to deny inappropriate entries, if they have reason to do so.

 

4. – Competitors should be neatly and suitably attired in coat, hunt cap with harness.  Refer to BEF Rule Book for further details on dress.

 

5. - Any cruelty or abuse, whether it is physical, verbal or otherwise, directed at any horse, person, or official of the show, will result in immediate elimination by the show committee.

 

6. – Fences in the warm-up ring must be jumped in the direction indicated by the red & white flags.

 

7. – No person shall have any contact, direct or indirect, with any part of the fences in the main ring or the warm-up ring, while a horse or pony is jumping.  Rapping a horse will result in elimination.  No false ground lines may be used.

 

8. – Any situation or condition not covered by the rules of the BEF will be decided by the Show Director.

10. – To be eligible for a division championship, all classes of the division must be entered at the time of close of entries which in turn must be indicated on the Entry Form.  Post entries will not be considered to division championships.

 

11. – Withdrawal of entries refer to BEF Rule Book.  Any subsequent requests for changes must be directed to the Show Secretary.

 

12. – List of requirements from which a judge may choose for an individual test in equitation classes may be found in the BEF Rule Book.

 

13. – Jumping classes will be held under FEI Rules, with the exception of there being 3 refusals before elimination of rider.  Seven minutes will be allowed for competitors to walk each jumping course. 

 

PRIZE LIST

 

1. – Ribbons will be awarded to 6th place.  A championship and reserve ribbon will be awarded for each division.   Overall Junior and Senior Championship will be awarded based on points allocated to the rider

 

2. – Division Championships will be determined by the highest number of points awarded to a horse or rider as applicable.

 

3. – Points will be awarded as follows:  1st – 7; 2nd –5; 3rd – 4; 4th – 3; 5th – 2; 6th – 1.  Hunter Division weighted 25% in hand, 25% under saddle and 50% over fences.  Low Hunter Division weighted 30% under saddle and 35% for each over fences.

ENTRIES

 

1. – Enter the correct horse/pony registration number on the entry form where required as well as the BEF membership number of the rider.  The age and date of birth of a junior competitor is also required.  Entry forms without this information may not be accepted.

 

2. – Post entries will be accepted prior to the start of a class provided the horse or pony is already entered in the show.

 

3. - The age of a junior competitor will be taken as of September 1, 2009.  A junior competitor shall be under 19 years.

ENTRY FEES - $18.00

POST ENTRIES – Double

ADMINISTRATION FEE: $20.00 for each horse/pony entered in the show

REFUNDS - A 50% refund will only be given upon receipt of a Dr.’s or Veterinarian’s Certificate

STALLS - are available, at a cost of $35.00 per horse per day.  Stables to be reserved with Patricia Swan at Patricia.swan@deloitte.bm

To be judged on performance, soundness, conformation, suitability and manners.  Height of fences not to exceed 2’9”.  Courses may be ridden back to back.  May not enter any other class of any other hunter division in this show.

 

Class 1c - HUNTER PONY OVER FENCES (BEF #6)

To be shown over a minimum of eight fences the required height.  Height of fences not to exceed 2’9”.  Judged on performance and soundness, manners and suitability of a pony to rider will be emphasized.  Extreme speed is penalized.

 

Class 2c - JUNIOR HUNTER HORSE OVER FENCES (BEF #4). 

To be shown over a course of not less than eight obstacles.  Height of fences not to exceed 3’0”.  To be judged on performance and soundness and when indicated conformation, suitability and manners.

 

Class 11c - ADULT HUNTER OVER FENCES (BEF #3)  

To be judged as for Class 2c.

 

Class 1b - HUNTER PONY UNDER SADDLE (BEF #6) 

To be shown at a walk, trot, canter and hand gallop.  Riders may be asked for an extended trot.  Ponies to stop easily, to back readily and stand quietly.  Light contact with pony’s mouth is required.  Judged on performance and soundness.  Manners and suitability of a pony to rider will be emphasized.  Extreme speed is penalized.

 

Class 14a - LOW HUNTER HORSE UNDER SADDLE (BEF #15) 

To be shown at a walk, trot and canter both ways of the ring.  Light contact with the horse’s mouth is required.  Horses should be obedient, alert, responsive, and move freely.  They should not be eliminated for slight errors.  To be judged on performance, soundness, conformation, suitability and manners.  May not enter any other class of any other hunter division in this show.

 

Class 3 - LEAD LINE EQUITATION UNDER 8 YEARS (BEF #7)

To be judged at a walk and trot only.  The ability of the rider only to be judged.  Will not be asked to change mounts or do an individual show.  May be asked to perform Test 1 of the BEF Equitation Rules.  May not enter any other BEF equitation class.

 

Class 2b - JUNIOR HUNTER HORSE UNDER SADDLE (BEF #4) 

To be shown at a walk, trot and canter both ways of the ring.  Light contact with the horse’s mouth is required.  Horses should be obedient, alert, responsive and move freely.  They should not be eliminated for slight errors.  Judge may ask horses to hand gallop collectively, one way of the ring.  No more than eight will be asked to hand gallop at one time.  To be judged on performance, soundness, conformation, suitability and manners.

 

Class 11b - ADULT HUNTER HORSE UNDER SADDLE (BEF #3) 

To be judged as for Class 2b.

 

Class 8 - RIDING PONY UNDER SADDLE (BEF #5)

Entries to be shown under English saddle.  To be shown at a walk, trot and canter both ways of the ring.  To be judged on performance, conformation, substance, manners and suitability.

 

Class 21 – OPEN LEAD LINE
To be judged at a walk and trot only.  The ability of the rider only to be judged.  Will not be asked to change mounts or do an individual show.  May be asked to perform Test 1 of the BEF Equitation Rules.  Open to junior competitors not entered into any other equitation class.

 

Class 19 - RIDING HORSE 15.2hh & UNDER (BEF #1)  

Entries to be shown under English saddle.  Horses to enter ring at walk.  To be shown at a flat-footed walk with reasonably loose rein, trot, strong trot, easy canter and hand gallop.  Only eight horses to gallop at one time.  To be judged on performance, conformation, substance and manners.

 

Class 22 – OPEN WALK & TROT
To be judged at a walk and trot only.  The ability of the rider only to be judged.  Will not be asked to change mounts or do an individual show.  May be asked to perform Test 1 of the BEF Equitation Rules.  Open to competitors entered into Class 3 and those Juniors not entered into any other equitation class.

 

Class 20 - RIDING HORSE OVER 15.2hh (BEF #2)

To be judged as for Class 19.

 

Class 33 - HUNTER CLASSIC 

Open to the top four competitors overall in the following divisions:  Hunter Pony; Low Hunter Horse, Junior Hunter Horse & Adult Hunter Horse.  There is no entry fee for this class.  Those qualifying must simply declare whether or not they will be competing.  This is a two round competition to be judged over a course of not less than eight fences including one combination.  The height of the fences will be set at the appropriate height for each division.  Scores out of 100 will be given at the conclusion of each round.  The winner is determined by the horse or pony with the highest combined score over two rounds.

FEI Art. 238 2.2.  Height to fences not to exceed .75m (2’6”).  To be judged as for Class 28.

 

Class 28 – PONY JUMPING

FEI Art. 238. 2.2.  Height of fences not to exceed .75m (2’6”).  A competition against the clock, but in the event of the equality of penalties for first place, there will be one jump-off against the clock.  Other competitors are placed according to their penalties and time in the first round.

 

Class 23 – PONY JUMPING (BEF #PN)

FEI Art. 238 2.2.  Height of fences not to exceed 0.85m (2’9”)

 

Class 24 – HORSE JUMPING (BEF #H1)

One rider per mount. To be judged over a simple course of not more than eight fences, preference will be given to those competitors who illustrate their equitation at a trot .  May not enter any other BEF designated equitation class of any other equitation division

 

Class 6b - JUNIOR EQUITATION UNDER 12 YEARS, OVER FENCES (BEF #9)

To be judged as per Class 7b.  Height of fences not to exceed 2’3”.  May not enter any other BEF designated equitation class of any other equitation division

 

Class 17b - SHORT STIRRUP EQUITATION, 12 YEARS & UNDER, OVER FENCES (BEF #27) 

One rider per mount.  To be judged over a simple course of not more than eight fences.  Height of fences not to exceed 2’6”May not enter any other BEF designated equitation class of any other equitation division

 

Class 5b -  JUNIOR EQUITATION 12-14 YEARS OVER FENCES (BEF #10)

One rider per mount.  The ability of the rider only to be judged.  To be judged as for Class 7b.  Height of fences not to exceed 2’9”.  May not enter any other BEF designated equitation class of any other equitation division.

 

Class 18b - LIMIT ADULT EQUITATION OVER FENCES (BEF #16)

One rider per mount.  To be judged over a course of not less than eight fencesHeight of fences not to exceed 2’9”.  May not enter any other BEF designated equitation class of any other equitation division.

 

Class 15b - ADULT EQUITATION OVER FENCES (BEF #12)

One rider per mount.  To be judged over a course of not less than eight fences.  Height of fences not to exceed 3'0”.  May not enter any other BEF designated equitation class of any other equitation division.

 

Class 7b -  JUNIOR EQUITATION 15-18 YEARS, OVER FENCES (BEF # 11)

May be asked to perform tests 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 of the BEF Rules May not enter any other BEF designated equitation class of any other equitation division.

 

Class 5a - JUNIOR EQUITATION 12-14 YEARS (BEF #10)  

To be judged at a walk, trot and canter both ways of the ring.  Entries may be asked to do an individual show.  May be asked to perform BEF Tests 1-8. May not enter any other BEF designated equitation class of any other equitation division.

 

Class 18a - LIMIT ADULT EQUITATION (BEF #16)

To be shown at a walk, trot and canter both ways of the ring.  May be asked to perform tests, 1, 3, 8 & 10 of the BEF Rules.  May not enter any other BEF designated equitation class of any other equitation division.

 

Class 15a - ADULT EQUITATION (BEF #12)

May be asked to perform Tests 1-18 of the BEF Rules.  May not enter any other BEF designated equitation class of any other equitation division.
