Elite Athlete Code of Conduct

 
I agree that my status as an elite and/or international equestrian under the banner of the BEF is conditional upon me following the terms of this Code of Conduct and, should I breach the terms, disciplinary action will be taken.
 
Any breach of the terms of the Code of Conduct will be referred to the International Committee and to the BEF Board of Directors so that any applicable action may be taken.
 

A BEF Elite and/or International athlete is obligated to:

 
comply with reasonable directions issued by the BEF Board of Directors and/or International Committee.
 
not be involved in any conduct or activity that may bring the BEF, and its affiliates, into disrepute.
 
not be involved in any conduct or activity that may harm the name or reputation of the BEF, and its affiliates.
 
not be involved in any situation which may bring the rider into disrepute, contempt, scandal or ridicule.
 
not make any adverse comments directly to the media, either in written or verbal form, about equestrianism, the BEF, and its affiliates.
 
engage in ethical sporting practices.
 
follow the FEI Code of Fair Play and Code of Conduct for Animal Welfare.
 
demonstrate the values and behavior required to encourage a drug-free sport for both rider and horse.
 
maintain a high personal standard of behavior so as not to bring the rider, equestrianism and the BEF into disrepute.
 
read, understand and comply with WADA code and BSADA regulations.
