Rider Code of Conduct |
The Bermuda
Equestrian Federation (BEF) believes that competing in an equestrian
competition, under the rules of the BEF, provides a unique
opportunity for the development of athletic skills and good
character. We expect each Rider to strive to follow the Code of
Conduct below. |
1. Recognize that
you are a role model for the sport and demonstrate the principles of
sportsmanship and animal welfare. |
2. Demonstrate
knowledge of and compete under the rules of the competition. |
3. Anti-social
behavior is not welcome. |
4. Accept
responsibility for consequences of your actions and not make excuses
or blame others. |
5. Control anger
and frustration and refrain from displays of temper and bad
language. |
6.
Show respect to officials of the competition (show judge, coaches,
collecting ring stewards etc). |
7.
Accept losing and winning graciously, congratulate opponents and
display positive behavior both in and out of the show ring. |
8. Always take
care of the horse that you are riding and treat it with the respect
and care that it deserves. |
9.
Do not make any adverse comments directly
to the media, either in written or verbal form, about equestrianism,
the BEF, and its affiliates. |
10. Forward any requests for media interviews or information for
media articles to the BEF Board. |
