Code of Conduct for Parents

 
The following requirements must be met by Parents/Guardians during any activity sanctioned or held by the BEF and its Affiliates.
 
Respect the rights, dignity and worth of others;
 
Remember that your child participates for their enjoyment not yours;
 
Focus on your child’s efforts and performance rather than winning and losing;
 
Never ridicule or yell at your child or other children for making a mistake or losing a competition;
 
Show appreciation for skilful performance by all participants;
 
Demonstrate a high degree of individual responsibility especially when dealing with or in the vicinity of persons under 18 years of age, as your words and actions are an example;
 
Respect officials’ decisions and teach children to do likewise;
 
 Do not physically or verbally abuse or harass anyone associated with equestrianism (officials, coaches, judge etc)
 
Be a positive role model;
 
Encourage a drug free sport to our young people;
 
Not make any adverse comments directly to the media, either in written or verbal form, about equestrianism, the BEF, and its affiliates.
 
Forward any requests for media interviews or information for media articles to the BEF Board and/or International Committee.
