CEA JUNIOR JUMPING COMPETITION: Our team of 16 & Under
competitors Brittany Ricca and Marlena Tucker travelled to Barbados
in mid February and came away with mixed results. It was very wet
and the competition was cancelled on the second day. There were two
eliminations on the first day and on the second day four of the six
competitors were eliminated. Brittany placed 1st in
round one and tied 3rd in round two, with Marlena placing
5th in round one and tied 3rd in round two.
In the 12 & Under competition Nicole Hassell had two clear rounds
and placed second overall. Michael Rodrigues travelled as team
coach and Mrs. Lisa Ricca was Chaperone. |

The
next round will be in Bermuda on May 20th and 21st
when we host Jamaica and Antigua. |

4.
FEI JUMPING CHALLENGE: This year we will again be entering both
Category A and B and the competitions will take place on Saturday
and Sunday March 25th and 26th. The show
schedule is in preparation and will be published soon. The type of
competition has been changed this year for Category B making it more
like a medal class, so we still have some issues to sort out with
the FEI as we are now required to bring in an overseas judge.
Sponsors this year will again be the Aon Group of Companies and we
very much appreciate the support from that organization and Annie
Sousa. We were very pleased that due recognition was given to Aon
at the Annual Government Sports Awards for this contribution over
the last five year. Paul Pereech is Chairman of this competition. |

JILLIAN TERCEIRA:
Also recognized at the Sports Awards for her success in 2005 was
show jumping equestrienne Jillian Terceira who is living in
Holland. Jillian’s mother Penny was on hand to receive the
achievement award presented in recognition of her performances in
2005 when she took part in over 60 International level competitions,
placing in the ribbons in many of them. Jillian is on the verge of
qualifying for the World Equestrian Games to be held in Aachen
Germany in August this year, where hopefully she will be watched by
a number of Bermudian spectators. |

ANNUAL
(AG SHOW) EXHIBITION: Entries for this year’s show close on Friday March 3rd
even though the dates are April 20th, 21st and
22nd. Again the BEF will be responsible for running the
equestrian events in the Main Ring, and the Judge for all of the
classes will be Mr. Al Trimble from Saskatoon, Canada. |

advised as soon as possible. |
