BEF NEWS MARCH 2006

Junior Athlete Awards 2006

Congratulations to Kelby Lusher on being selected as one of the recipients of the Government sponsored Junior Athlete Scholarships for this year.

Kelby was one of the awardees last year as well, and intends to try to qualify for the Young Riders Jumping Competition 2007.

This is the tenth year of this award programme and equestrianism has been recognised each year, probably the only sport to be so successful.

Annual General Meeting of BEF Ltd.

A reminder that the AGM of the BEF has been scheduled for Wednesday 29th March 2006 at the Chamber of Commerce Hamilton starting at 7:30pm.

We have some new nominations for Board members, but we are in need of a new secretary as Pippa Barritt is standing down.  Any volunteers or interested persons can call me or Pippa for more information.

Annual Exhibition 2006

We have had some response to our plea for help with the canteen for the Ag Show and a small committee is being formed.

Anyone else willing to assist with organization, not just helping with hours, should advise the BEF office.

A separate notice will go out asking for volunteers to give time actually working in the canteen. This is a very important part of the BEF function.

FEI World Dressage Challenge 2006

A very successful show was held on Tuesday 14th March with clinics on the following day and many thanks are due to Susan Roblin and her committee for all their efforts.

The local results are on the BEF website and other countries talking part results will be posted when available.  The two FEI judges left here to go to Haiti, Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados and Antigua finishing up at the end of the month.

FEI World Jumping Challenge 2006

This competition will take place on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th March and we once again entered in both Category A and B levels, so go on down to the NEC starting at 9:00am each day.  Trinia de Lisser from Jamaica will be the Foreign Judge. Paul Pereech is the Chairman and the draw has been posted on the BEF website.

CEA Adult Challenge 2006

Following the success of the Junior Competition it has been decided to hold an Adult CEA Jumping Competition based on the FEI Challenge so that riders will not travel, but will do the competition in their own country on their own or borrowed horses using identical courses.  This year the courses have been designed by Bermuda’s Heidi Mello.  The rules for the competition are on the BEF website and the courses will be posted soon.

FEU Courses

We have been given authorization to hold an FEI Stewards Seminar to be followed by an FEI Level Two Coaches course starting on 8th September 2006.

Official invitations will be going out soon, so anyone interested in taking part should advise the BEF Office in writing.
