I do
not intend to pre-empt our new PRO Esther Young but members are in
need of being updated on a number of items. Esther is learning the
hard way that the local media, both print and electronic, does not
rate equestrian activities high on their list of priorities, and
despite repeated attempts very little in the way of publicity has
been seen recently. We did manage though to get four photos in one
day in the Royal Gazette of the FEI Jumping Challenge. Anyway
Esther will keep trying. |

Linda
Wilkinson has volunteered to form a committee to run the canteen and
Margie Vasconcelos is arranging the roster of helpers, but she needs
people to volunteer their time. The Ring Programme is now on the
BEF website, as well as a numerical list on entries, so you can
easily see when you can be available. Please contact Margie at Ph:
(Home) 293-2989 or Cell: 735-4929 or email at their
mvasconcelos@logic.bm or
margiev@logic.bm as soon as possible. |

Funds
raised will go towards the BEF, NEC and Pan Am Games. We need your
help! |

Junior
Athlete Scholarship |
|
The BEF
maintained its 100% record in having a successful recipient for this
annual award when Stephanie Wilkinson received the sum of $2778.00
in order to assist her in going away this summer to train and
compete in New England. Well done Stephanie!! |

Pan Am
Games 2007 |
|
As well
as our two show jumpers, Jillian and Patrick, who have already
qualified for the Games we have the good news that Dressage rider
Annabelle Collins has also reached the qualifying standard, subject
to ratification. We are still hoping that Tim Collins and Chris
Taylor will reach the standard in show jumping and dressage
respectively. This is the first time that we will have Show Jumpers
in the Pan Am Games although we have had Dressage and Eventing
competitors before, the most notable being the only gold medal that
Bermuda has won when Mary Jane Tumbridge came first in Winnipeg in
1999. |
|
Tickets
to attend the Pan Am Games go on sale this week and anyone requiring
information should contact the BEF Office. |
|
|
|
The Pan
Am Games Fund Raising effort is going a little slowly, and anyone
willing to assist or make a donation can complete the form which is
on line or contact Jaime Masters. |

Penny

Teen
Magazine |
|
Equestrians did receive some different publicity in a recent copy of
the Teen Magazine when junior members, Cochise DeRosa, Nicole
Hassell and Stephanie Wilkinson were featured on the cover as well
as inside modelling some outfits. |

Annual
BEF Prize Giving 2007 |
|
This
year’s popular event has been scheduled for Saturday 2nd
June at Riddells Bay so mark your Calendar. It will also be a fund
raiser for Pan Am Games! There are not many more shows to gain year
end points and most of the Championships are very close. |

Organizing Committees of upcoming events should contact Esther Young

In
order to get some publicity, unless of course you do your own. |
