Specifications:
Intermediate Type Course – up to 3’6” max
There will be NO open water jumps on course.
.
Eligible Riders: Open to Junior Competitors only between the ages of 12 and 18 years.  The age of an individual on September 1st will be maintained through out the entire competition year.  All competitors must be current members of the BHPA and the BEF.
.
Eligible Horses: Open to all horses registered with the BEF
(Ponies are NOT eligible)
.
Scoring: The series will be scored as follows:
  • For each class, riders will receive 10 points if they complete the course (ie make it through the finish line) regardless of how many faults on course.
Riders placing 1st in a class will then receive an additional 30 bonus points for the class.  The rider coming 2nd will receive 20 bonus points and the rider coming 3rd will receive 10 bonus points.
  • A rider can ride up to three mounts in a class but only the points of the highest scoring mount will be taken.  Therefore, the maximum amount of points that any one rider can receive in a class is 40 points.
  • Only the points of the rider count – not a horse/rider combination.  A rider can ride as many different mounts as he/she wishes throughout the series
  • In the event that a “Rising Star” class is run as part of an existing jumper class where there may be competitors in the class not taking part in the actual “rising star” series (for example the BHPA fall show), points will be given for the 1st, 2nd or 3rd place finish among the actual “rising star” competitors.
  • The BHPA will maintain the overall points which will be distributed throughout the season after each eligible competition.
Other:
Substitution of horses may be permitted prior to the start of the competition for actual named “rising star classes” only.  Classes run as part of an existing H3 class must adhere to substitution rules as laid out in the BEF rule book.
.
Entry Fee:
All riders wishing to participate in the Rising Star series must complete a form of intent and submit the form to the BHPA accompanied by a one time entry fee of $50.00    Please make cheque payable to the BHPA and submit at the time of entry for the BHPA Fall show.  Any late submissions can be sent to Rebecca Carne by hand or drop off at Hinson Hall in a secure envelope for pick up.
.
Submission of a Letter of Intent and $50.00 must be paid prior to competing in any Rising Star Class.  Eligible riders can decide to join the series and participate in any rising star class at any point during the year by fulfilling the above obligation.
.
NOTE: Competitors will be required to pay regular horse show entry fees for any class that might be part of the rising star series – the $50.00 fee will not cover the cost of entering the actual class at any horse show.
.
Please feel free to contact Rebecca Carne to discuss any questions regarding the series at 232-2689.
