RULES

 1 - When entering this show, all horses and ponies must be registered with, and competitors must be members of, the BEF prior to the close of entries.

 

1.     2 - Correct money for each class must accompany entry form.

2.      

 3 - The organizing committee reserves the right to change, cancel or combine classes or to deny inappropriate entries, if they have reason to do so.
 
4 - Competitors should be neatly and suitably attired in coat, hunt cap with harness.  Refer to BEF Rule Book for further details on dress.
 
5 - Any cruelty or abuse, whether it is physical, verbal or otherwise, directed at any horse, person, or official of the show, will result in immediate elimination by the show committee.  Refer to BEF Codes of Conduct http://www.bef.bm/bef%20codes%20of%20conduct/codeofconductspage.htm
 
 6 - Fences in the warm-up ring must be jumped in the direction indicated by the red & white flags.
 
 7 - No person shall have any contact, direct or indirect, with any part of the fences in the main ring or the warm-up ring, while a horse or pony is jumping.  Rapping a horse will result in elimination.  No false ground lines may be used.
 
 8 - Any situation or condition not covered by the rules of the BEF will be decided by the Show Director.

5.    10 - To be eligible for a division championship, all classes of the division must be entered at the time of close of entries which in turn must be indicated on the Entry Form.  Post entries will not be considered to division championships.

7.    11 - Withdrawal of entries refer to BEF Rule Book.  Any subsequent requests for changes must be directed to the Show Secretary.

9.   12 - List of requirements from which a judge may choose for an individual test in equitation classes may be found in the BEF Rule Book.

11.  13 - Jumping classes will be held under FEI Rules, with exception of there being 3 refusals before elimination of rider.  Seven minutes will be allowed for competitors to walk each jumping course.

PRIZE LIST

1.       Ribbons will be awarded to 6th place.  A championship and reserve ribbon will be awarded for each division. Overall Junior and Senior Championship will be awarded based on points allocated to the rider

2.       Division Championships will be determined by the highest number of points awarded to a horse or rider as applicable

3.       Points will be awarded as follows:  1st – 7; 2nd –5; 3rd – 4; 4th – 3; 5th – 2; 6th – 1.  Hunter Division weighted 25% in hand, 25% under saddle and 50% over fences.  Low Hunter Division weighted 30% under saddle and 35% for each over fences.

ENTRIES

1.             Enter the correct horse/pony registration number on the entry form where required as well as the BEF membership number of the rider.  The age and date of birth of a junior competitor is also required.  Entry forms without this information may not be accepted.

2.             Post entries will be accepted prior to the start of a class provided the horse or pony is already entered in the show.

3.             The age of a junior competitor will be taken as of September 1, 2011.  A junior competitor shall be under 19 years.

To be shown over a course of not less than eight obstacles.  Height of fences not to exceed 3’0”.  To be judged on performance and soundness and when indicated conformation, suitability and manners. Courses may be ridden back to back.

 

Class 40  HANDY HUNTER

To be ridden of a course of jumps to consist of no less than 8 fences 3.00’ in height.  Handy Hunter is similar to Working Hunter but differs in that Handy Hunter requires and in and out combination jump, a trot fence and at least 2 changes of direction.  Manners, style of jumping, manuerverability, flow of strides and balance are elements that the judge takes into consideration when awarding a score.

 

Class 14a - LOW HUNTER HORSE UNDER SADDLE (BEF #15) 

To be shown at a walk, trot and canter both ways of the ring.  Light contact with the horse’s mouth is required.  Horses should be obedient, alert, responsive, and move freely.  They should not be eliminated for slight errors.  To be judged on performance, soundness, conformation, suitability and manners.  May not enter any other class of any other hunter division in this show.

 

Class 11b - ADULT HUNTER HORSE UNDER SADDLE (BEF #3) 

To be judged as for Class 2b.

 

Class 2b - JUNIOR HUNTER HORSE UNDER SADDLE (BEF #4) 

To be shown at a walk, trot and canter both ways of the ring.  Light contact with the horse’s mouth is required.  Horses should be obedient, alert, and responsive and move freely.  They should not be eliminated for slight errors.  Judge may ask horses to hand gallop collectively, one way of the ring.  No more than eight will be asked to hand gallop at one time.  To be judged on performance, soundness, conformation, suitability and manners.

 

Class 20 - RIDING HORSE OVER 15.2hh (BEF #2)

Entries to be shown under English saddle.  Horses to enter ring at walk.  To be shown at a flat-footed walk with reasonably loose rein, trot, strong trot, easy canter and hand gallop.  Only eight horses to gallop at one time.  To be judged on performance, conformation, substance and manners.

12:30pm – 1:15pm SCHOOLING ROUND – B

@ $10.00 per round.  Entries on the field.  Tickets purchased from Announcers Booth.. Two minutes allowed per rider.  Can school with others at the same time i.e. 10 competitors will allow 20 minutes.  Note:  The schooling fences will include two modified courses with one course at x-rails the other course at 2’0”.  A rider may do one or both courses or the same course twice as long as it is within the time allotment.

Class 31a – X-RAILS OPEN HUNTER

To be shown over no more than eight x-rail fences.  Judged on performance and soundness, manners and suitability of pony/horse to rider will be emphasized.  Extreme speed is penalized.

 

Class 33a – 2’0” OPEN HUNTER

To be shown over a course of not less than eight obstacles.  Height of fences not to exceed 2’0”.  Judged on performance and soundness and suitability of pony/horse to rider will be emphasized.  Extreme speed is penalized

 

Class 1c - HUNTER PONY OVER FENCES (BEF #6)

Class 1d - HUNTER PONY OVER FENCES (BEF #6)

To be shown over a minimum of eight fences the required height.  Height of fences not to exceed 2’6”.  Judged on performance and soundness, manners and suitability of a pony to rider will be emphasized.  Extreme speed is penalized. Courses may be ridden back to back.  Ponies may only enter 1c and 1d OR 1e and 1f  Results from the Model, Under Saddle and Over Fences will be combined to give the overall Show Hunter Pony Champion

 

Class 1e - HUNTER PONY OVER FENCES

As for Class 1d.  Height of fences 2’3”.  Ponies may only enter 1c and 1d OR 1e and 1f  Results from the Model, Under Saddle and Over Fences will be combined to give the overall Show Hunter Pony Champion

 

Class 1b - HUNTER PONY UNDER SADDLE (BEF #6) 

To be shown at a walk, trot, canter and hand gallop.  Riders may be asked for an extended trot.  Ponies to stop easily, to back readily and stand quietly.  Light contact with pony’s mouth is required.  Judged on performance and soundness.  Manners and suitability of a pony to rider will be emphasized.  Extreme speed is penalized.

 

Class 31b - OPEN HUNTER UNDER SADDLE (WALK/TROT)

To be shown in both directions of the ring at walk and trot only

 

Class 33b - OPEN HUNTER UNDER SADDLE

To be shown in both directions of the ring at walk, trot and canter

 

Class 8 - RIDING PONY UNDER SADDLE (BEF #5)

Class 15b - ADULT EQUITATION OVER FENCES (BEF12)

One rider per mount.  To be judged over a course of not less than eight fences.  Height of fences not to exceed 3'0”.  May not enter any other BEF designated equitation class of any other equitation division.

 

Class 7b -  JUNIOR EQUITATION 15-18 YEARS, OVER FENCES (BEF # 11)

One rider per mount.  To be judged as for Class 15b.  Height of fences not to exceed 3’0”.

 

Class 41 - OPEN JUMPER MEDAL - HEIGHT 3’3”

To be judged over a course of no less than 8 fences at a height not to exceed 3’3” with a minimum of 1 combination on course.  All riders not eliminated during the over fences phase will be asked to return on the flat for additional testing.  No change of equipment is permitted between phases.  Boots, bandages, running or standing martingales are permitted.

 

Class 27 – HORSE JUMPING (BEF #H3)

FEI Article 238 2.2.  Height of fences not to exceed 1.10m (3’7”)

Class 42 - PAIRS

Open to any combination of horse and/or pony.  To be shown at walk trot and canter both ways of the ring.  To be judged on performance as a pair and appearance

 

Class 4a - WALK & TROT EQUITATION 10 YEARS & UNDER (BEF #8)

To be judged at a walk and trot only.  The ability of the rider only to be judged.  Will not be asked to change mounts or do an individual show.  May be asked to perform Test 1 of the BEF Equitation Rules.  May not enter any other BEF designated equitation class of any other equitation division.

 

Class 3 - LEAD LINE EQUITATION UNDER 8 YEARS (BEF #7)

One rider per mount.  To be judged over a simple course of not more than 8 fences, preference will be given to those competitors who illustrate their equitation at a TROT.  May not enter any other BEF designated equitation class of any other equitation division

 

Class 29 – PUDDLE JUMPER .070m - HORSES & PONIES

FEI Art. 238.2.1 Height of fences not to excess .70m.  Competition against the clock.  Competitors with equality of penalties for any place are placed in accordance with the time taken to complete the round.  In the event of equality of penalties and time for first place, there may be a jump-off over a shortened course over obstacles, which may be increased in height and/or speed.

 

Class 6b - JUNIOR EQUITATION UNDER 12 YEARS, OVER FENCES (BEF #9).

One rider per mount.  To be judged over a course of not less than eight fences.  Height of fences not to exceed 2’3”.  May not enter any other BEF designated equitation class of any other equitation division.

 

Class 48a - BAREBACK EQUITATION OVER FENCES

Riders to be judged over a simple course of no more than 8 fences not to exceed 2’3” in height

 

Class 28 – PONY JUMPING (BEF #PN1)

FEI Art. 238. 2.2.  Height of fences not to exceed .75m (2’6”).  A competition against the clock, but in the event of the equality of penalties for first place, there will be one jump-off against the clock.  Other competitors are placed according to their penalties and time in the first round.

 

Class 17b - SHORT STIRRUP EQUITATION, 12 YEARS AND UNDER, OVER FENCES (BEF27)

One rider per mount.  To be judged over a course of not less than 8 fences.  Height of the fences not to exceed 2’6”.  May not enter any other BEF designated equitation class of any other equitation division

 

Class 5b - JUNIOR EQUITATION 12-14 YEARS OVER FENCES (BEF#10)
