NATIONAL JUNIOR ATHLETE SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMME |
|
|
For the last ten years the Government of the day through the Department
of Youth & Sport has sponsored a scholarship programme to recognize
juniors in different sports who have the potential to become elite
athletes. For each of the ten years we have submitted an
equestrian for consideration, and have been successful each year.
A substantial sum of money has been awarded to each of the recipients in
order to enable them to spend the summer pursuing their aims. . |

This year was no exception and Daniella DeSilva won our nomination, and
was one of eight athletes from different sports being awarded a
scholarship. This will enable Daniella to travel to Canada this
summer to train with Mac Cone and compete in show jumping, with the aim
of eventually competing at Young
Rider Level. . |

|
Daniella is one of our most accomplished and dedicated junior
competitors winning many awards in flat and jumping classes. Her
most notable success was being invited to compete in Germany last summer
having won the FEI Children's dressage competition in our group the
previous year. . |

|
